A Quaker wedding ceremony, which can be referred to as a Meeting for Worship for the Solemnisation of Marriage, emphasizes simplicity, equality, and the presence of the Divine, and is preformed under the care of the Religious Society of Friends. Unlike many other religious ceremonies, there is no officiant or clergy—Quakers believe that marriage is a commitment made in the presence of the Spirit and the community, not through the authority of any one person.

The ceremony begins with a period of silent worship, allowing attendees to reflect and connect spiritually. The couple then stands together to exchange their vows, often without a scripted format, allowing for personal and heartfelt promises. The vows are not only a commitment between the couple but also an offering of divine assistance in their journey together.
